Rural and Regional Liveability

In 2020, the DHHS – Wimmera South West division started to view health from a social determinents of health perspective. Bringing together all Primary Care Partnerships, a new framework was developed. This provides a holistic roadmap to follow.

Executive Summary

The issues facing those living in rural Victoria are significantly different to their urban counterparts. A 2018 Parliamentary Inquiry into sustainability and operational challenges of Victoria’s rural and regional councils identified the common factors that affect service provision across Rural Victoria. These include Socio-Economic Disadvantage, Age Structure, Population Spread, Remoteness, Staff Retention, Capacity to Pay and Environmental Issues. Read the full Executive Summary
