Workshop 1: Improving social and emotional wellbeing across Corangamite.

Facilitators: Camperdown Mental Health Centre and South West Primary Care Partnership.

Monday 18th November, 9:30am for a 10am start -noon finish

The majority of Corangamite residents create income from the; agriculture, forestry, and fishing industry. Over the last ten years climatic and industry conditions have been volatile causing a significant increase in situational distress. In addition, there are large distances to travel for residents to be socially connected and to be able to access the rights services at the right time. This session will provide a broad overview of what programs, supports, and services are available now for families and individuals. The aim will be for participants to develop strategies to strengthen the range and array of community based activities, events and services in partnership to support mental health and wellbeing in 2020 and beyond.

Workshop 2: Reducing Family Violence

Facilitators: Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West and South West Primary Care Partnership.

Tuesday 19th November, 11:30am for a noon start -2pm finish

Introducing Respect 2040 – a collaborative approach that brings community, business, service organisations and decision makers together to embed equality and respect where we live, work, love and play.

Why equality and respect? An introduction to the drivers of violence against women.

Proven and promising practice: Using the evidence to inform how can we best work together to progress gender equity and address the drivers of violence in the Corangamite community.

This action orientated workshop will highlighting the work that is already being done, how we can maximise the impact and plan for action across Corangamite in 2020.

Workshop 3: Advantageous opportunities for education across Corangamite

Facilitators: South West TAFE and South West Primary Care Partnership.

Wednesday 20th November, 3:00pm- 5pm

Whether you are looking for an apprenticeship or traineeship, you are an employer or an employee, join SWTAFE to hear about:

-new entrants in apprenticeships and traineeships

– industry based training for existing staff, and

-the re-skilling for career changers regardless of age.

During this session hear about  how TAFE trains you for jobs in demand; Government subsidised places available for eligible students ,and over 30 Free courses and a range of scholarships on offer in 2020.

Workshop 4: Improving physical health across Corangamite

Facilitators: South West Sport and South West Primary Care Partnership.

Tuesday 03rd December, 10am for a 10:30am start- 12:30pm finish

 Trends in physical activity and sport participation are shifting. There is increased participation in social sporting activities and a decline in traditional, club-based sport.  Join South West Sport as we explore the topic of Social and Modified Sport, and how traditional sport is being challenged to ‘do sport differently’ in order to attract, engage and retain people who are less active.

This workshop will help inform, shape and activate the 2020 Corangamite Municipal Health and wellbeing Action Plan.

Workshop 5: Reducing the harmful impacts of alcohol and other drug use across Corangamite.

Facilitators: Department of Justice and Community Safety and South West Primary Care Partnership.

Thursday 2nd December, 10.00am for a 10.30am start- 12.30pm finish

Alcohol harm is a leading cause of preventable illness and injury, assault and death. It is also a key contributing factor to family violence, road accidents and child abuse. participating in the reducing the harmful impacts of alcohol and other drugs workshop will help inform, shape and activate the 2020 Corangamite Municipal Health and wellbeing Action Plan.
